In With The Old & In With The New

Thrift shops and online second-hand stores are like gold mines for fabulous vintage clothing and accessories. Sometimes it may not be obvious at first glance, but dig a little deeper and you'll be surprised at what you find.

Sometimes it can take a little while before you discover an amazing vintage piece that'll blend with your style, but the reward of this treasure sure is worth it.

Pairing vintage with new not only gives us the opportunity to create interesting outfits, but we can do it at a fraction of the price of an entirely new outfit.

I found my Valentino Roma sheer top on ebay for only $10. I paired it with a new pair of jeans and borrowed the shoes and black tube top from my sister's wardrobe.

It's Black & White

Black-and-white is one of my all-time favourite trends because it's so easy for anyone to wear and even easier to accessorise. So I was pretty happy to hear that this monochrome look is back for 2013.

Black and white is both classic and modern. The versatility and simplicity of this color-combo means it can be adapted to anyone's style and body shape. We can also use these two colors to shape our bodies - wearing black on the bottom half will give the illusion that it's smaller and wearing white on the top half will make it look a little bigger. This balances out feminine shapes and gives a more proportioned and elongated look.

I've chosen a classic white blazer and edgy faux leather leggings for my B&W outfit. My shoes are white with a yellow perspex heel - this and the rose gold rings add little pops of color.

White Fashion

White dresses, white jackets, white fashion in general have been my latest obsession. The bonus is that white's everywhere now - in the southern fall and the northern spring collectinos.

White is so easy to accessorise, and it's so easy to make this look your own. And hey, if you're ever stuck for ideas, a no fail option for shoes and bags is black.

Accessorising white is easy, choose any color and BOOM you're done! I've kept my look clean by accessorising with a white clutch, white shoes and gold rings.

Little Black Dress...

miss rose fashion stylist

The little black dress is a must-have wardrobe piece. We've all heard this. So why do we have to have it? Because it's timeless, sexy and can be styled any way we like. Wear it once with one set of accessories, wear it again with another. And then wear it again a few months later with next season's accessories. Pair it with stockings and coats in winter or with a pair of wedges or sky-high heels in summer.

For this post I chose one with a peplum - a current fashion favourite.

Have you got your all-time favourite little black dress? You might, or you don't, or you want to add another to your collection. And if you're looking, how do you choose yours? Well, you could base your choice on the current fashion trends: peplum, leather, laser-cut, frills, lace or sheer. Or you could choose a dress based on your body shape.

So how are you going to style your little black dress? I've styled this one with these amazing white platforms and some rings and bracelets from Puzzle Jewellery.
